My Story

About Joneil

Joneil was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica and lived a wonderful and focused life even as a child. Remembering his days as a youngster at Camp Road Basic School and Jessie Ripoll Primary School as some of his best, he started to mature as a well-rounded individual. He found that he had an insatiable appetite for reading, even at an early age and began to excel at school.

His first foray into major examinations saw him gaining a Government Scholarship for his grades at the then Common Entrance Examinations in fifth grade.

In the previous year, he came second in the Parish of Kingston for the Spelling Bee Competition.

His high school years, at Campion College, saw a greater interest in the sciences which made him think more about his dream of becoming a doctor.

He entered the University of the West Indies fresh and optimistic and eventually matriculated into the Medicine Programme in his second year. However, he would then battle with stress, depression and anxiety in his final year.

Deciding after a few years to let it all go and seek a new career path, Joneil has since been a newspaper writer with a weekly magazine in his new home of Portmore, St. Catherine. Following that he did video production and screenwriting for different programmes on a cable channel, and later became a digital marketer for a digital marketing agency.

His move into media opened his eyes to the great opportunity to have a voice heard on important issues. During his later years his love for Christ and the gospel had intensified and so he decided to then take a look at interesting topics on faith, motivation and positivity and share it online.

Joneil’s days are spent working his day job while his nights involve building content for online followers. You can catch him online during the week or on Sundays at his church. (He currently is a member of the United Church in Jamaica and The Cayman Islands). He aims to touch as many lives as possible with the hope, meaning and message of Christ. Join him for the ride!
